I created the "What Can I Build?" Tool for Bildsten Architecture and Planning

As a planner, people often ask me: "What can I build on my property?"

I realized: local zoning maps are confusing enough, and they don't give people the broader picture that includes all the recent California state housing laws.

So I spent the past few months compiling local Santa Barbara zoning data, mapping where various state housing laws apply (ADUs, SB 684/1123, SB 1211, SB 9, AB 2097, and more), and bringing it all together in an easy-to-use interactive map.

The result: click on a property and get a much clearer picture of what you may be able to build.
